DF Capital organises all-employee volunteering effort

Manchester-based DF Capital organises ‘Mega Giveback’ event which saw over 100 colleagues volunteer for nine different local charities and organisations.

DF Capital, the specialist commercial lending and personal savings bank, has unleashed a wave of goodwill with its remarkable “Mega Giveback” event. Over 100 passionate employees eagerly volunteered their time and expertise to support nine exceptional local charities and organisations.

The Bank’s “Mega Giveback” event, an afternoon of helping make a positive impact on the local community, involved DF Capital teams going out to 13 different sites and undertaking both practical and guided activities to support nine different organisations:

  • Ardwick & Longsight Foodbank – an independent foodbank that provides free food parcels for people in need
  • Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary – provides care and shelter for stray, neglected and animals in need
  • City of Trees – a charity delivering a green recovery and tackling the climate emergency head on, through planting trees and restoring woodlands for the people and wildlife of Greater Manchester
  • Girls Out Loud – a social enterprise on a mission to raise the aspirations of teenage girls UK-wide
  • Just Life – supports people living in temporary accommodation in moving away from homelessness
  • Groundwork – a charity that works hard to create a greener, fairer and stronger future for all people, communities and places in Greater Manchester
  • The Albion Academy – a local secondary school community that celebrates ambitious and aspirational learners
  • The Trussell Trust (across six locations: central Manchester, Fallowfield and Withington, Salford, Burnage, Irlam & Cadishead, Stockport) – a nationwide network of food banks aiming to provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people
  • Wood Street Mission – a charity that helps struggling families across Manchester and Salford

It was great to see our colleagues learn new skills and connect with local communities and initiatives.

The bank is committed to building a sustainable and brighter future for its colleagues, customers, communities and the environment – recognising that it’s their colleagues that will make all the difference. Earlier this year, and on top of yesterday’s initiative, the bank launched three days of paid volunteering leave for colleagues to take each year and partnered with OnHand – the all-in-one volunteering app to track and measure engagement, voluntary efforts and environmental impact.

Carl D’Ammassa, CEO at DF Capital, commented: “At DF Capital, we are steadfast in our commitment to building a sustainable and brighter future for our customers, colleagues, communities, and the environment. We believe in the power of collective action and the profound impact it can have on our communities. Witnessing our colleagues acquire new skills and forge meaningful connections within the community this week was truly inspiring. This momentous event marks just the beginning of our ongoing dedication to supporting our communities. Together, we will continue to cultivate a culture of compassion and drive transformative change, knowing that it is our remarkable colleagues who will truly make all the difference.”
